In the Community

Dr. Doug’s commitment to the community is evident through his compassionate approach to serving those in need. He actively supports many local and international nonprofits, including a mission trip to Honduras, where he provided dental care to underserved communities. Dr. Doug takes great pride in giving back to the community. Granite Coast Orthodontics frequently donates to local auctions and sponsors numerous school teams and programs. Additionally, Dr. Doug and his dedicated staff visit local schools every year with their Dental Health Outreach Program, educating children from Pre-K to 5th grade about the importance of good oral hygiene.

Most recently, Dr. Doug helped found a new dental assistant training program at the Mid Coast School of Technology (MCST). In 2025, he gave the program to the MCST. At its inception, he helped orchestrate and schedule a dozen dentists to teach lectures, as well as donating supplies, his time, and his passion. Dr. Doug is enthusiastic about lecturing and looks forward to giving talks on orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics to these eager students. Dr. Doug feels this will both support career-focused students to join the profession, and also provide better access to courses and opportunities like becoming a Certified Dental Assistant, and possibly Expanded Function dental assistants.
